- Lexus extends RZ battery electric luxury SUV line-up with new front-wheel drive (FWD) versions
- New RZ 300e offers driving range of up to 480 km (official WLTP figure)
The RZ was first introduced as an all-wheel drive model, amplifying its luxury SUV qualities. Now Lexus is offering more choice and broadening the RZ’s appeal to reach a greater number of customers with the addition of a front-wheel drive model. This creates a new entry point to the RZ line-up, with a lower on-the-road price but with no sacrifice in the characteristics that define Lexus’ first purpose-designed battery electric vehicle. Customers can expect the same craftsmanship and Omotenashi attention to detail throughout while the driver will enjoy the finely tuned Lexus Driving Signature that brings complete confidence, comfort and control on every journey.
The battery electric powertrain remains the same, minus the rear eAxle and inverter that are used on the AWD versions. With a consequent reduction in the car’s kerb weight, the RZ 300e offers an extended driving range. The official WLTP combined cycle distance is up to 480 km when 18-inch wheels are fitted; with the 20-inch wheels, the figure is up to 419 km. This compares to respective distances for the AWD of 440 km and 395 km.
The electric motor and lithium-ion battery produce a maximum output of 204 DIN hp/150kW, with peak torque of 266 Nm available from 0 rpm. This ensures brisk acceleration, with 0-100 km/h covered in eight seconds.
Customer deliveries of the new FWD models are expected to commence in June (dates may vary according to the local market).
